Sample feeding schedule for your 1-year old

Happy birthday little one and well done to mummy and daddy for the one year of hard work thus far!

At 12 months, both my little ones seemed so grown up and looking more like toddlers than newborn babies, ahh..cue the tears!

When it comes to feeding them solids, I am grateful that my elder one loves food and would almost inhale anything we feed her. However, it was a different story with the second one who was very choosy and was not shy to show it.

I realised that the best way to encourage them to enjoy their food and have good mealtime behaviors is by showing them how we adults do it. So, we would have our kids be part of our regular family meals as often as we can.

As for recipe ideas, here are some tried and tested meal options I put together, with some from my dear mummy friends. Hope it will help you like how it helped us! (of course you can mix it about and take breaks on certain days! Sometimes when work gets too overwhelming, I will cook 1 dish for 2 meals)

Days Breakfast Lunch Dinner
Monday Cereal, steamed apples and pear Dhal or lentil soup (lentils, butter or ghee, onion, pumpkin, garlic, stock, tumeric powder, cumin powder, and any spices that baby likes) Braised tofu and meat with soft rice
Tuesday Steam custard egg Dried scallop porridge Grilled fish with soft rice
Wednesday Cheese toast Braised noodles (keep the noodles soft) ABC (carrot, onion, potato) soup with chicken and soft rice
Thursday Plain white porridge Chicken and spinach porridge Fried rice (try to keep the rice soft)
Friday Omelette Ikan billis and seaweed porridge Soy sauce chicken with soft rice
Saturday Sweet potato and pumpkin yoghurt Meat porridge Ikan bakar, beans with soft rice
Sunday Homemade scones or muffins Omelette rice Tomato pasta with minced meat

* you can replace chicken with any meat of your choice

Pro-tip :

I realise that on days when I feed them yoghurt in particular, they will surely poo. Prep your baby by wearing PETPET® Diapers to help prevent leaks and most of all, provides comfort to the little precious despite a ‘poo-nami’!
